The above photos are from the Fall cattle drive on the o6 Ranch. We traveled across the ranch by pickup to stay ahead of the cowboys. Once we were in front we would position ourselves to get the shots. The was a lot of leap frogging going on between us and the cowboys. Since I was driving there was no time to switch to a different lens. I shot for the remainder of the day with just the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. I think that it is still one of best lens on the market for the value. The lens is sharp and can be hard for a little over $500. The focal range was perfect for the day and allowed be to zoom in as the cowboys were coming towards us as well as allowed me to continue shooting once they were close. Also the light weight of the lens helped when hiking up and down the hills to get into position. Nikon also makes a 28-300mm lens but I have not had the opportunity to try it. I think that it may have been the lens of choice on this day if I would have had one in the bag.
